Seasonal Planting - Spring

Herbs

Herbs - basil, coriander, thyme, lavender, chervil and dill are all strong favourites, enjoying a sunny spot. Growing herbs in a container is a well-trusted method - arrange in the container, placing lower growing plants around the edges and make sure you water regularly. A handful of water-retaining gel can help. Try growing Basil together with tomatoes and if you're keen on Coriander - make fresh sewings every couple of weeks through the summer.

Prunus - Japanese Ornamental Cherry

By far our best selling ornamental tree grouping. For best results:
  • select a sheltered, sunny position
Other types to consider - `winter flowering` variety - Prunus Sub. Autumnalis or one of the red leaf varieties (giving extra foliage interest after the showy blossom)

Azalea

Azaleas enjoy similar conditions to Rhododendrons but are more tolerant of full sun.  Tips for success:
  • dwarf varieties are excellent choices for containers
  • worth considering deciduous varieties that provide a excellent later flowering display & autumn colour
