Aubretia

Aubretia is a very familiar spring flowering alpine.  Tips for success:
  • ideal in light, free draining soil conditions
  • benefits from a `haircut` after flowering, helping to retain a tight clump-like form

Broom

Broom is a tough, quick establishing specimen.
The expanding range of new varieties includes primrose yellow and red flowering forms, as well as the more familiar yellow gold.

Pieris

Pieris is a particular NE Scotland favourite, being suited to the local acidic soil conditions. Pieris is grown principally for their distinctive new growth.  Tips for success
  • as it's vulnerable to late frosts - cover with white protective fleece to prolong the display
Look for new variety Pieris Katsura with glossy ruby red new growth
