Container Gardening - Tips for Success

• Allow adequate drainage – ensure there are a sufficient number of drainage holes in the container.  Add a layer of drainage material to the base of the pot, eg. broken crock, gravel or even the broken polystyrene material from bedding packs.

• Use a good quality compost – obviously this depends of what’s being planted – but we recommend Levington & Miracle Gro ranges for all your container gardening needs.

• Raise the pot off the ground – this is vital for the winter months.  This ensures the water drains sufficiently and prevents pots freezing to floor surfaces.  Choose from a wide range of feet and plant stands at the Garden Centre.
